Welcome to the October newsletter!
Again, the Summer is almost here, and it seems that almost as
if overnight, the amount of people out at 0600HRS (6am)
getting their exercise done before work has tripled. And with
the mornings at the moment, I think we can all see why!
With Daylight
savings
starting this coming weekend, everybody should be out there
catching some cool spring morning weather before the Hotter
day's set in. Watch that sunrise and take a dip in the ocean
before work, I can't think of a better way to start the day
(other than chocolate!).
Only 2 months left to complete those 2006 resolutions we all
intended to keep at the beginning of the year, so lets get those beach bodies back on track and get
ready for a fantastic summer.... HOOYAH!

Again, a
HUGE congratulations to Ramesh Sathiah of the Coogee Beach
Platoon, not only on his amazing transformation, but also on
his recent marriage.
A true
inspiration to every individual out there who is on a mission
to better their health, fitness and general well being, Ramesh
has lost over 50 Kilos of fat
and is well
on his way to achieving his goal.

Out with the Old
and in with the New
Remember,
by now, all Recruits are now
required to
wear the new 'Original Bootcamp' T-shirts (with
the Bulldog on), rather than the old 'Bootcamp
Fitness' Ts. If you were the old T's you will be
deemed "Out of uniform".
All new recruits
will receive an Original Bootcamp T on day one,
and all return recruits will have the option to
purchase one for $15 if they don't already have
one.

Original Bootcamp is proud to support the
Melbourne City Treasure Hunt for Breast Cancer
Research.
The City treasure hunt is an exciting and
challenging event that raises money for the
national breast cancer foundation.
120 teams will
search the vibrant city to solve cryptic clues and
conquer the course. The team who achieves the
highest score will win fabulous prizes and be
declared the Treasure Champions for 2006!
Its
a great outdoor event with some fantastic prizes
and best of all, raises money to fund breast

Want to get into shape fast?!
Your favorite Original Bootcamp Instructors
are now available for 1 on 1 or 1 on 2
Personal Training sessions. So if you have a
specific goal that you are out to achieve, email
your closest provider to organise a trial session.

Bootcamp Rules &
Regulations
When you sign up for the
Original Bootcamp you agree to abide by the Rules
& Regulations that we have in place. If you do not
abide by these rules all members of your section
(and on occasion even your whole platoon) will pay
the penalty.
The most important rules are as
follows:
-
You must arrive at least 5mins
prior to each session.
-
You must give your Instructor
6hrs notice if you are unable to attend a session.
-
You must wear your uniform to
each session
-
Your Original Bootcamp T-shirt
must be worn on the outside (once the warm-up is
complete).
-
You must always address your
Instructors by their rank. i.e. Sergeant or Chief.
-
You must not speak while an
Instructor is speaking.
-
Do not stop any given exercise
until you hear 'Steady!' from an Instructor.

Do you have a fitness question?
Q:I
have recently started feeling pain in my shins when I run,
especially on the beach, is it shin splints and is there any
way to stop the pain? I don't want to stop running as I have
set myself a goal to reach by Christmas!

A:
Firstly, we definitely can't diagnose anything for you, best
thing to do is get it checked out by a medical professional.
On the other hand, for shin splints, ultimately the remedy can
be painful, but it is worth it! Ice your shins after your run,
and get them massaged later. Your Physio can recommend you
some stretches that will help too. I have emailed them to you
as well.

Sleep in and
you'll be supporting charity
As of October
30th, all recruits on the Coogee and Sydney CBD
programs will be required to sign an
'Attendance Agreement' that will allow the
Original Bootcamp to deduct $10 from their credit
card each time they miss a session without giving
a minimum 6hrs notice to instructors. At the end
of each month, all money raised will be donated to
a registered charity.
There are two
reasons for returning to this system; one is to
provide Recruits with an additional incentive to
attend every session, and therefore achieve their
goals even quicker. Secondly, many of the sessions
that your Instructors design are based on the
number of Recruits that they are expecting to
attend.
Feedback from
Recruits has supported the move, as many of you
are aware of the adverse effect such absences have
on the rest of the group.

Chief gets the last word.
Well, it just keeps growing and growing. The
Bootcamp Fitness Network is on track to become the
world's largest bootcamp fitness provider by
January 2007. We have gathered a fantastic team of
Providers, and Instructors to ensure that
thousands of Australian's can reap the benefits of
the true bootcamp experience.
We are excited to have a growing number of current
and ex - military, law enforcement and EMS
personnel joining our Instructor ranks, including
members of our elite SAS, Commandos, Paratroopers,
Clearance Divers and Police Tactical Response
Teams. These guys are proving to be an incredible
asset to the Network, and we hope that we will be
having plenty more Instructors of their calibre
joining us in the near future.
